A Chinese New Year celebration at a cafe in Serangoon, close to the housing unit, caused a lot of noise all night.
This caused residents to contact the police.
Chinese New Year ceremony
Shin Min Daily News reports that the emergency happened on January 16 at a cafe located at 261 Serangoon Central Drive.
In the week leading up to Chinese New Year, the area is decorated with bright lights and red lanterns.
However, residents were greeted with loud noises from the event.
A local resident named Guan told Xin Min that the noise from the cafe was very loud that night.
He said he thought it coincided with the Chinese New Year celebration, and one scene even invited two women to sing until 10:30 p.m.
As seen in Shin Min 's video, the cafe and its surroundings are noisy.
Guan said he could still hear the voices even though the doors and windows were closed.
Since her daughter had school the next day, she decided to call the police.
Techno-musical dynamism
Another resident told Shin Min that loud music played that night and the walls and floor of his house shook.
The cafe has three speakers that play music simultaneously.
He said it was so loud he could hear it on his way home.
Another resident added that the noise canceling headphones were not working.
The loud noise on Monday night forced a resident with an eight-month-old baby to stay outside after 9 p.m., shared Shin Min , another resident.
Police arrived around 8 p.m. and the music stopped at 9 p.m., a resident said.
