Launched in China in November 2022 as a new series, the Vivo X90 series smartphone is expected to hit the global market on January 31. The Vivo X90 series includes the base Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro+. Along with the launch of this series, Vivo has announced that it will launch the world's first AI airport mode. The Chinese smartphone maker has partnered with sou.com to build an artificial intelligence engine that will help it identify planes and landing spots more effectively.
In a report by IT Home (via MySmartPrice), Vivo says it gets a better and faster network and a better user experience. Vivo has confirmed that this technology can increase network speed by up to 79 percent. This does not affect performance, the company says, saving up to 30 percent of energy during flight.
This technology will be readily available on the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro, both of which are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC. As reported earlier, the Vivo X90 series is likely to launch in international markets including India on January 31 in Malaysia. In Malaysia, the vanilla Vivo X90 is priced at INR 3,699 (roughly INR 69,000) and the Vivo X90 Pro is priced at INR 5,299. (Rs. 99,000 approx.) as expected.
The configuration of the global Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro variants is likely to be similar to the one launched in China last year. In partnership with Zeiss, both phones are believed to launch with a triple rear camera setup. The packaging box contains a 120W charger. The phone has a curved display with a hole in the top center to accommodate the selfie camera and a special V2 chip for image processing and artificial intelligence acceleration.
The standard Vivo X90 may have a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel portrait sensor. On the other hand, the Vivo X90 Pro is expected to be available globally with a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto portrait camera. Both are expected to have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The device is expected to run on the latest version of Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.
The Vivo X90 Pro+ is the only model in the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC series in China. The Mediatek Dimensity 9200 SoC is expected to power the international variants of the Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. Note that there is no official announcement from Vivo about the launch of the Vivo X90 series in Malaysia or other international markets.
