A well-known Samsung insider, who mostly covers Galaxy phone leaks, claims that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have the slimmest bezels of any smartphone. It's a design detail that may not matter in 2023, as smartphones have typically had the same design for several years. But if true, the leak suggests that the latest iPhone 15 design rumors could be correct.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the latest in a long line of thin-bezel iPhones. 2017's iPhone X shocked the industry with its all-screen design and uniform bezels around the screen. Dimension was the only exception. It needed a bigger frame to house the Face ID sensor, speaker and selfie camera.
Almost all Android vendors have copied the iPhone X design this year. But most notch phones at the top have a large "chin" at the bottom. The iPhone X's uniformly thin bezel has been difficult to replicate for several years. At the time we were concerned about the thickness of the ring and bottom "doctor".
But for the past few years, all Android phones have had the same screen design: a punch-hole display with thin bezels around it. The only noticeable difference comes from the iPhone, which features a traditional layer or the new Dynamic Island.
Bezel thickness isn't uniform across devices, but we've reached a point where it doesn't matter. It's small enough to look solid on most phones. But Samsung Ice Universe regularly shows edge thickness, and he did the same with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
According to internal information, the iPhone 15 Pro Max bezel will be just 1.55mm compared to the Xiaomi 13's 1.81mm bezel.
If the number is correct, we expect the iPhone 15 Pro's bezels to be roughly the same size. iPhone 14 Pro has 2.17mm bezel.
We note that Ice Universe recently shared CAD files that may reveal the actual dimensions of the iPhone 15 Pro. These files show that the phone will have a slightly smaller camera on the back. They also offer good news about the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max: the phones could be thicker than their predecessors.
Apart from the Pro models, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are said to have roughly the same design as the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. So they will hold these glasses. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are expected to have slightly curved edges or a 2.5D glass design. Those curved edges could help Apple shrink the bezel. But we're just guessing here.
Again, bezel size shouldn't matter too much, though we appreciate the extra screen real estate and sleek look.
